There was a void in the way of bars in Swansea, and it once left our choice of night time relaxing slightly hollow. But this gap, which long needed filling, is now satisfied.
Introduction
Just above Papa Sanchos, a new, multifarious wine bar has opened called Papa’s Lounge, it’s complete with a cool and charismatic atmosphere and a balcony jutting out into the metropolitan surroundings. Just up the stairs, it’s the perfect evening retreat after a nourishing meal at Papa Sanchos or indeed for an evening out as many people believe it to be a timely and welcoming retreat from one of the busy spots in the UK, Wind Street. It’s not just an extension of the restaurant below though; this bar, with its separate entrance, offers something different from anything in lovely city of Swansea, or arguably in South Wales altogether.
The wine bar lives up to its title with an exclusive list of reds, whites, rosés, and sparkling wines from various regions. Papa's Lounge offers wines to sip from around the world that can’t be found in other bars or restaurants in the area. And keeping with the Spanish theme of Papa Sanchos, a tapas menu is available to accompany the wines.
It is student-friendly and a must for sports fans with three large plasma screens for all sporting occassions.
It’s undoubtedly quite an extraordinary bar. And not to worry, an extensive wine list doesn’t mean that there is a dearth of beer or liquors. It’s a full bar offering plenty of cocktails and an extensive bottled beer menu.
It is the perfect place for just chilling out and mingling whether it be at the start of the evening or the end of the evening as doors open at 1pm and close at 3.30am every Friday and Saturday. With an array of drinks and tapas to nibble on, the urbane double ambiance of the suave bar and tranquil balcony is the fizz in the champagne.
With hospitality packages on offer for almost every autumn and six nations rugby internationals at papa's Lounge it really is a comfortable hangout for professionals and the artistic community alike. There will be a former international rugby star there to mingle with ticket holders and there will be a Q & A session . Only a select number of tickets will be sold, so those fans will be able to stay all day, watch the game in comfort, eat a free meal, and hang out with a legendary player.
The bar has many other events lined up as well; there is always something to look forward to.
